Sydney's Golden Spring Run Continues on Bumper Card at Rosehill Gardens

A clash of some of Australia’s best three-year-olds heading towards a sought-after Group 1 event is one of many highlights at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday as Sydney’s spring continues on a golden run.

The Group 2 $300,000 Yulong Run To The Rose has attracted a crack field and is a pivotal race heading towards the Group 1 $1 million Yulong Golden Rose in a fortnight.

Three other Group races – the Group 2 $300,000 Irresistible Pools Sheraco Stakes, Group 2 $300,000 Toyota Forklifts Theo Marks Stakes and Group 3 $250,000 myPlates Ming Dynasty Quality – contain a host of stars.

Saturday’s 10-race card at Rosehill Gardens is just a week before the official start of the $81 million Sydney Everest Carnival.

And Autumn Glow – the new darling of the Sydney turf and Australian Racehorse of the year – will have an exhibition gallop on track this Saturday with stablemate Aeliana.

Australian Turf Club Chief Executive Steve McMahon said: “We’re right on track for an outstanding Sydney Everest Carnival, and the excitement is building with some of Australia’s very best horses set to light up the track in the weeks ahead.

“The quality of competition we’re seeing is exceptional, and race fans can look forward to seeing many of the sport’s biggest stars competing on Sydney’s premier stage.

“Along with the champion horses the Australian Turf Club is planning to bring further value and benefits to all of our Members and customers on track in coming weeks.

Saturday’s 10-race card begins at 11.50am with the last race due to jump at 5.15pm.

Two of champion trainer Chris Waller’s horses head TAB Fixed Odds markets in the Yulong Run To The Rose – St Gotthard with James McDonald ($2.70) and Central Europe with Zac Lloyd ($6).

Warwoven for trainer and jockey combination Bjorn Baker and Rachel King is at $8 TAB Fixed ahead of Under Focus for Kris Lees and Dylan Gibbons at $10.

A super field of mares line up in the Irresistible Pools Sheraco Stakes in a highly-competitive betting race.

Joe Pride’s Weeping Woman to be ridden by Tim Clark opens at $3.80 TAB Fixed as she looks for a fifth consecutive win.

Apocalyptic (Michael Freedman/Tommy Berry) is at $4.40 TAB Fixed ahead of the Chris Waller trained Lazzura at $4.80, with James McDonald aboard, and Gangster Granny (Hawkes Racing/Dylan Gibbons) at $6.50.

The Toyota Forklifts Theo Marks Stakes has been won by some of the nation’s very best over the years and again attracts a high-class field.

Skyhook on his home track for trainers Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou with jockey Kerrin McEvoy opens a $2.90 favourite.
