Nominations Open For Iconic 2027 Group 1 $5 Million TAB Golden Slipper

The Australian Turf Club has opened nominations for Australia’s most influential race – the Group 1 $5 million TAB Golden Slipper at Rosehill Gardens.

The 71^st running of the world’s richest race for two-year-olds – scheduled to run on Saturday 20 March 2027 – is a centrepiece of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

First nominations of yearlings with a $440 entry fee must be lodged before 3pm on Tuesday 7 July, 2026.

Following that date, a late nomination ($2750 fee) can be lodged before 3pm on Tuesday 4 August, 2026, before first acceptances close on Tuesday 6 October, 2026.

Total prizemoney of $5 million plus trophies is on offer, with first prizemoney of $2.95 million, and subsequent prizemoney paid for a maximum field of 16 runners.

Australian Turf Club Head Of Racing and Wagering Nevesh Ramdhani said the TAB Golden Slipper stood on a pedestal of Australian racing.

“From the moment a Thoroughbred is born, owners, breeders and trainers begin to live the dream of having a runner in the TAB Golden Slipper,’’ Mr Ramdhani said.

“No other race in Australia has the potential to shape the racing and breeding industries, most notably the potential value of a TAB Golden Slipper winning colt.

“The TAB Golden Slipper is an iconic event in world racing as part of Sydney’s renowned Autumn program.’’

All horses who secure a first nomination are also automatically added at no first cost as entries for another sought-after feature, the Group 1 $1 million Golden Rose in September 2027.

Entry into the Golden Rose remains valid even if the TAB Golden Slipper nomination lapses at the first, second and/or final acceptance stage.
