Free Entry Offers to Royal Randwick in Honour of Iconic ANZAC Day

The Australian Turf Club will honour and commemorate Anzac Day at Royal Randwick on Saturday with free entry for ex and current Servicemen and Servicewomen, and those wearing medals of passed personnel.
Entry to Royal Randwick will also be free for all NRL ticketholders to the traditional St George Illawarra and Sydney Roosters match at nearby Allianz Stadium at Moore Park later in the afternoon.
The ATC will hold a special ceremony in the Owners Enclosure as part of the raceday just after 2:00pm, following the running of race three.
The ceremony will be led by the Australian Racing Christian Chaplaincy and will include the Ode, playing of the Last Post and Australian national anthem, a prayer for Armed Forces past and present, and a minute’s silence of commemoration.
Australian Turf Club CEO Steve McMahon said Anzac Day was one of the most important days on the calendar.
“We can never forget the service, sacrifice and bravery of all Australian and New Zealand past and present personnel who over more than 100 years have given their lives and defended their countries,’’ Mr McMahon said.
“As part of the ATC’s thanks we are most pleased to offer free entry for Australian Defence Force ex and current members, or those who are wearing medals in honour of loved ones.
“Anzac Day is one to reflect and then later through the day enjoy the great freedoms our Army, Navy and Air Force have provided with an afternoon at the races and then the NRL, just one stop of travel on the light rail to the ground.’’
Saturday’s eight-race card at Royal Randwick starts at 12.45pm, with the last race due to be run at 4.50pm.
ATC Members gates open at 11.15am and General Admission gates open at 11.30am.
