Schweppes All Aged Stakes Bubbles With Group 1 Class At Autumn Carnival Finale

The strongest Group 1 $1.5 million Schweppes All Aged Stakes in modern history crowns the finale of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Twelve of the 14 runners have won Group 1 races – in total 24 Group 1 wins across the field – which collectively has won an astonishing $81.3 million in career prizemoney.
The Group 1 $1.5 million Schweppes All Aged Stakes and Group 1 $1 million Moët & Chandon Champagne Stakes complete six weeks of world-class racing at Royal Randwick and Rosehill Gardens.
Australian Turf Club CEO Steve McMahon said Sydney racegoers had been treated to a memorable Autumn.
“Saturday’s Schweppes All Aged Stakes is the strongest in living memory and is a fitting Group 1 finale to what has been an historic Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival,’’ Mr McMahon said.
“To have 12 individual Group 1 winners in a field of 14 continues this race’s rating as one of the best in Australia all year, and firmly established in the world’s top 100.
“The past five weeks have provided on-course patrons with thrilling racing and entertainment and with more brilliant weather forecast for Saturday, everyone on course can bathe in sunshine in a sea of colour and celebration to close the Autumn.’’
Travel on all forms of public transport on Saturday are included in General Admission tickets and ATC Members cards.
Jimmysstar (Ciaron Maher/Ethan Brown) and the Chris Waller trained Angel Capital (James McDonald) open joint $5 TAB favourites in the all-star Group 1 $1.5 million Schweppes All Aged Stakes.
Another Waller runner in Beiwacht for jockey Nash Rawiller is at $6 ahead of a former TAB Everest winner in Giga Kick at $6.50 TAB for trainer Clayton Douglas and jockey Rachel King.
The past three winners of the Schweppes All Aged Stakes are in Saturday’s field – Jimmysstar, Magic Time (Grahame Begg/Jordan Childs) at $81, and Giga Kick.
Two other horses are under double-figure odds – Briasa for Hawkes Racing and Tyler Schiller at $9 TAB and Pericles for Bjorn Baker and Craig Williams at $9.50 TAB.
The race also sees the return of the popular Fangirl from the Waller camp at $10 TAB with Ben Melham aboard.
In the Group 1 $1 million Moët & Chandon Champagne Stakes, Inglis Sires’ winner Campione D’italia is a clear favourite for the Waller and James McDonald team, opening at $2.80 ahead of stablemate Fireball (third in Inglis Sires’) with jockey Tim Clark at $5 TAB.
The Inglis Sires form has provided 16 of the past 20 winners of the Moët & Chandon Champagne Stakes.
Saturday’s 10-race card also includes four Group 3 races – the $250,000 Toyota Forklifts Frank Packer Plate, $250,000 MostynCopper James H B Carr Stakes, $250,000 myPlates JRA Plate and $250,000 TAB Hall Mark Stakes.
