GROUP ONE FINALES CROWN AN AUTUMN CARNIVAL FOR THE AGES

Two Group 1 races on a ten-race card feature at the final meeting of the 2025 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival – Schweppes All Aged Stakes Day at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
The Group 1 $1.5 million Schweppes All Aged Stakes and Group 1 $1 million Moët & Chandon Champagne Stakes complete six weeks of world-class racing at Royal Randwick and Rosehill Gardens.
Briasa for Hawkes Racing and jockey Tyler Schiller is a $3.70-$3.60 TAB opening favourite in the Schweppes All Aged Stakes and the same stable and rider combination with early favourite Nepotism ($3.60-$3.70 TAB) in the Moët & Chandon Champagne Stakes.
Australian Turf Club Head of Racing and Wagering Nevesh Ramdhani said the 2025 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival had been one of the most exciting in modern history.
“Many of the world’s best horses, trainers and jockeys have thrilled Sydney racing fans over the past months and we look forward to a great finale this Saturday,’’ Mr Ramdhani said.
“The Schweppes All Aged Stakes is firmly established in recent years as one of the highest-rating races in Australia along with being in the world’s top 100 best.
“The Moët & Chandon Champagne Stakes completes the two-year-old Triple Crown and has attracted five colts and six fillies in the final field which offers rare Group 1 status for the two-year-olds.’’
Briasa is aiming to be the fourth horse this century to complete the Asahi Super Dry TJ Smith/Schweppes All Aged Stakes double.
Joliestar (Chris Waller and Zac Lloyd) and Jimmysstar (Ciaron Maher/Ethan Brown) are on second line of betting at $6.50 TAB.
Magic Time ($12 TAB) for trainer Grahame Begg and jockey Jordan Childs would join a rare group of horses to win multiple Schweppes All Aged Stakes.
The mare won the 2024 renewal and only champion gallopers Dalrello (1976, 1977), Rough Habit (1992, 1993) and Sunline (2000, 2002) have won dual times in the past 50 years.
In the Moët & Chandon Champagne Stakes Nepotism, who last start won the TL Baillieu, would defy recent history as 16 of the past 20 winners have come through the Inglis Sires.
State Visit ($6 TAB) for Chris Waller and James McDonald and Buffalo ($7 TAB) for trainer David Atkins with Jason Collett aboard were both placed in the Inglis Sires.
Saturday’s card also includes four Group 3 races – the $250,000 Toyota Forklifts Frank Packer Plate, $250,000 MostynCopper James H B Carr Stakes, $250,000 Myplates JRA Plate and $250,000 TAB Hall Mark Stakes.
