Owners and trainers heading towards the iconic $5 million TAB Golden Slipper can aim for an extra $1 million bonus by winning key lead-in races ahead of the world’s richest race for two-year-olds.
The Australian Turf Club this year offers the extra incentive in five pathway races at Rosehill Gardens and Royal Randwick.
To receive the bonus, a horse must win any two of five nominated races as well as winning the ultimate prize – the Group 1 $5 million TAB Golden Slipper at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday 22 March 2025.
The nominated races for the bonus in 2025 are:
| DATE | VENUE | GROUP | RACE | DISTANCE | PRIZEMONEY |
| 22-Feb-2025 | ROSEHILL GARDENS | 2 | TAB SILVER SLIPPER STAKES | 1100m | $300,000 |
| 1-Mar-2025 | ROYAL RANDWICK | 2 | TAB SWEET EMBRACE STAKES | 1200m | $300,000 |
| 1-Mar-2025 | ROYAL RANDWICK | 2 | CATANACH’S JEWELLERS SKYLINE STAKES | 1200m | $300,000 |
| 8-Mar-2025 | ROYAL RANDWICK | 2 | YARRAMAN PARK REISLING STAKES | 1200m | $300,000 |
| 8-Mar-2025 | ROYAL RANDWICK | 2 | TODMAN STAKES | 1200m | $300,000 |
The $1 million bonus makes the Group 1 TAB Golden Slipper – to be run at Rosehill Gardens on 22 March 2025 – Sydney’s most lucrative Autumn race.
In 2020, Farnan won three of the races (Silver Slipper/Todman/Golden Slipper) while in 2023 the Godolphin trained Cylinder narrowly missed the $1 million bonus after winning the Silver Slipper, Todman Stakes before a close second to Shinzo in the Golden Slipper.
Australian Turf Club Head of Racing and Wagering Nevesh Ramdhani said the bonus rewarded superior two-year-olds of their generation.
“The Group 1 TAB Golden Slipper remains amongst the most important on the racing calendar and the $1 million bonus adds extra incentive in the lead ups,’’ Mr Ramdhani said.
“All five races in the bonus program are Group 2 events and have produced a higher number of Golden Slipper winners in recent decades.’’
