Rosehill Gardens Warms Up for Winter Racing and Lord Mayor's Cup

Racing returns to Rosehill Gardens this Saturday after a five-week break with the running of the Listed $200,000 Lord Mayor’s Cup – the first of a series of winter middle distance and staying features in Sydney.

The 79^th renewal of the Lord Mayor’s Cup won last year by recent Group 1 winner Bois D’Argent has attracted 14 entries, part of a massive 178 acceptances across the 10-race card.

Chris Waller trained Waterford after an unlucky last start second in the Scone Cup opens a $4-$3.70 TAB favourite for Saturday with Josh Parr aboard.

Sir Lucan trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott is a $5.50 TAB second favourite and will be ridden by Winona Costin, making her return to Sydney Saturday racing.

Williamsburg saddled up by Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou for jockey Zac Lloyd is at $6 TAB ahead of Annabel Neasham trained Sibaaq ($7 TAB) for jockey Kerrin McEvoy.

Following Saturday, middle distance and staying features will include the Listed $200,000 Winter Cup over 2400m at Rosehill Gardens on 15 June and Listed WJ McKell Cup over 2000m on 29 June at Rosehill Gardens.
