2024/25 Season Wrap-Up: A Record-Breaking Year at the Races

The 2024/25 racing season will be remembered as one of the most competitive, thrilling and rewarding in Australian Turf Club history; a season where stars emerged, records tumbled and owners, trainers and punters alike enjoyed the very best of Thoroughbred racing across Sydney’s four world-class racecourses.

Across 109 race meetings at Royal Randwick, Rosehill Gardens, Canterbury Park and Warwick Farm, fans were treated to 923 high-quality races featuring a total of 8,930 runners. Whether it was a midweek metro maiden or the theatre of Group 1 glory, the action from start to finish was nothing short of spectacular.

A total of $216.9 million in prizemoney was distributed across the season, reflecting the continued strength of Sydney racing and its appeal to the best owners, trainers and jockeys in the country, and increasingly, the world.

The black-type calendar once again delivered the drama and class racing fans crave, with 149 Group and Listed races run throughout the season. These premium events featured 1,634 starters and carried a combined $118.5 million in prizemoney. From the electric atmosphere of Royal Randwick on TAB Everest Day to the tradition and prestige of the Sydney Autumn Carnival, every major meeting delivered moments that will live long in the memory.

Just as importantly, the ownership experience in Sydney continues to grow from strength to strength. A total of 52,553 owners were welcomed on course across the season, a new all-time high and a 453-person increase from the previous year. This milestone reflects the ATC’s ongoing commitment to providing premium raceday experiences, with dedicated owners’ areas, enhanced hospitality and a front-row seat to the action ensuring they’re part of the day in every sense.

Behind the numbers is a broader story of resilience, growth and excellence. From our world-class tracks to the people who make it all happen – the racing industry professionals, raceday staff, and of course, the horses – every stakeholder plays a role in making the Sydney racing experience second to none.

As we close the book on 2024/25, we look ahead with great anticipation. A new season brings fresh opportunities, new champions and more unforgettable moments.

Thank you to our Members, fans, punters and partners for another outstanding season. Whether you’re cheering from the stands, the mounting yard or from home, we can’t wait to welcome you back for what promises to be another remarkable year of racing.
