2021 SYDNEY AUTUMN RACING CARNIVAL LAUNCHED IN WORLD-CLASS STYLE

March 9, 2021

The Australian Turf Club’s prestigious six-week Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival – from this Saturday 13 March to Saturday 17 April – was launched this morning at Sydney’s stunning CBD location, The Mint, in spectacular fashion.

Boasting 18 Group 1 races and $37 million in prizemoney and trophies, the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival will present a kaleidoscope of world-class racing, fashion, entertainment and award-winning hospitality across the Longines Golden Slipper Carnival at Rosehill Gardens and The Star Championships at Royal Randwick.

Today’s event welcomed an impressive line-up of VIP guests including The Hon. Stuart Ayres MP, Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney, Lord Mayor City of Parramatta Bob Dwyer, Australian Turf Club CEO Jamie Barkley, Racing’s First Lady Gai Waterhouse AO, champion jockey Tommy Berry and Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival Ambassador Sonia Kruger, who discussed with MC Gerard Middleton from the Big Sports Breakfast the array of unrivalled experiences awaiting visitors to the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

The launch was also attended by a raft of other special guests including ATC’s Autumn Carnival Culinary Ambassador Chase Kojima (Sokyo), Longines Golden Slipper Carnival Ambassador Candice Warner, Fashion Stakes and Longines Prize for Elegance Ambassador Kate Waterhouse, ATC Director Angela Belle McSweeny, ATC Racing Ambassador Katelyn Mallyon and Clerk of the Course horse Aussie.

A giant Longines Golden Slipper was a shining centrepiece and highly popular with guests, as was a show-stopping fashion parade featuring the season’s latest racewear and beauty trends styled by ATC Stylist Donny Galella and ATC Beauty Expert Michael Brown, who were also in attendance.

The Australian Turf Club also announced today their continuing partnership with Destination NSW (DNSW) throughout autumn aimed at growing tourism and major events in the harbour city and the burgeoning Western Sydney.

Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival showcased many of Sydney’s strengths, from world-class hospitality and entertainment to the city’s capacity to host COVID-safe major events.

“There’s nothing like a day at the races and the Australian Turf Club Autumn Carnival is sure to deliver the fashion, fun and energetic entertainment event-goers look for when visiting Rosehill Gardens or Royal Randwick.

“Sydney is open for business and bursting with things to do from enjoying theatre and live performance to our incredible attractions and exceptional retail, bars and restaurants. There’s so much to love, you really need to book a city escape and plan a full Sydney itinerary to even scratch the surface of the Harbour City – and you’ll be supporting businesses involved in our local visitor economy by doing so.

“The NSW Government is proud to partner with the Australian Turf Club for the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival to keep Sydney’s events calendar shining, to support the racing community and suppliers involved in the program, and to show our confidence in COVID-safe events leading the recovery of the state’s visitor economy.”

Australian Turf Club CEO Jamie Barkley said: “We are very proud to be hosting world-class racing, hospitality and entertainment at Royal Randwick and Rosehill Gardens.

“We are also thrilled to be continuing our relationship with valued key partners Racing NSW, Tabcorp, Longines, Heineken, XXXX, The Star, Chandon and Destination NSW to help strengthen Sydney tourism and major events,” said Mr Barkley.
