11 Unmissable Highlights on TAB Epsom Day

The Sydney Everest Carnival heads into the third of nine racedays this Saturday with TAB Epsom Day.

Here are 11 unmissable highlights not to skip when you’re trackside. Gates for TAB Epsom Day open at 10:30am for members and 10:45am for all other guests. Race one on a bumper 10-event card will commence at 11:55am.

1. The TAB Everest lead-up – 3:25pm
10 horses will do battle in the $1million Precise Air Premiere Stakes – the final key lead-up event for potential TAB Everest horses. Current Everest favourite Think About It resumes here for Warwick Farm trainer Joe Pride and is considered a hot $2 favourite with TAB Fixed Odds.

2. Three Group 1s including the TAB Epsom – 2:50pm, 4:05pm & 4:45pm
The $1.5million TAB Epsom is the feature on the card and Tasmanian galloper The Inevitable ($15-$6.50-$7) has been well supported early in the week with TAB Fixed Odds. Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott have the hot favourite in the $750,000 James Squire Metropolitan in Just Fine ($1.75), with Gai looking to extend her own record to nine Metrop victories.

The fillies do battle in the $750,000 Darley Flight Stakes – the last of four races in the Darley Princess Series. Tiz Invincible ($2.70 TAB) is well supported to make it three straight wins, having captured the Furious Stakes and Tea Rose Stakes respectively.

3. Farewell a legend – 2pm
Patrons have the opportunity to say goodbye to one of the best sprinters ever produced in this country – Nature Strip. The 2022 TAB Everest champion will be in the raceday stalls from 2pm, with patrons given the chance for a pat and photo of the Chris Waller speedster. Nature Strip will also lead the field out for the Premiere Stakes.

4. The TAB Lobby & TAB Penthouse
Visit the TAB Lobby on the ground floor of WINX Stand for your chance to win some incredible prizes, including the opportunity to secure a VIP spot at the TAB Penthouse. This is an exclusive viewing platform high up in the sky, where you and up to 5 friends can take in the ultimate race view!

5. Eats at the Garden
There’s plenty of food and dining options available throughout Royal Randwick on TAB Epsom Day. Experience a taste of the Middle East with a gozleme, get a feel for Italy with Caminito or a pizza from Happy As Larry. The ever popular food trucks will also be in operation with Greek Street and Dog House sure to heighten the senses of any racegoer along with the various food outlets located in and around the Queen Elizabeth II Stand, including the Pie Destination Shop (in the Kensington Café).

6. Bars, bars and more bars!

There’s plenty of places for a refreshing drink this TAB Epsom Day, including Destination Chandon (located on the Trackside Lawn), Canadian Club Bar (behind the QEII Stand), James Squire House, and the WINX Stand. Members have a variety of beverage outlets to choose from on the day including the Moët & Chandon Trackside Garden Bar, Petaluma Wine Bar, Petaluma Garden, Casa Aperol @Royal Randwick and Mr Black Airstream.

7. The world-class WINX Stand
The impressive WINX Stand named after the legendary mare is open to all racegoers to enjoy. Enjoy DJ sets throughout the afternoon, various food outlets and a ground floor space that opens up to the Leger Lawn, getting you up close and personal to the action on the track. Upstairs in The Gallery North Room will feature a sports bar with bespoke food offering and betting activation. While The Gallery South has DJs with cocktails and tapas. The open terrace is also home to the Happy Clapper Bar which has one of the best views on track.

10. DJ Havana Brown performing live – 5:35pm
Catch a live performance by internationally-renowned Australian, DJ Havana Brown. The highly popular ‘After The Last’ concert series takes place in the Theatre of the Horse at Royal Randwick and is included as part of your entry.
