One of the most sought-after trophies in Australian racing – the Group 1 $1 million De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose – holds centre stage at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday on week three of the Australian Turf Club’s Everest Carnival.

The Kris Lees-trained colt Graff has opened the $3.50 TAB Fixed Odds favourite in one of the strongest De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose fields in the race’s history.

A trio of colts from Sydney’s eight-time champion trainer Chris Waller follow in The Autumn Sun ($4.40 TAB Fixed Odds), Lean Mean Machine ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds) and Zousain ($8 TAB Fixed Odds).

Seabrook from the Victorian stable of Mick Price ($9 TAB Fixed Odds) would become only the second filly in the race’s history to win the De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose.

The stallion-making De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose has been won by some of Australia’s best young horses in recent years including Trapeze Artist, Astern, Zoustar, Hallowed Crown and Denman.

Australian Turf Club Acting CEO Matt Galanos said: “Saturday’s De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose has brought together a high-quality field of some of the very best groups of three-year-olds we have seen in many years.”

Saturday’s nine-race card features four other Group races including the Group 2 $400,000 JHB Syndications Golden Pendant for the mares.

Trainer Bjorn Baker’s highly-consistent mare Champagne Cuddles ($4.80 TAB Fixed Odds) heads the market from the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott’s mare Prompt Response ($5 TAB Fixed Odds) and Chris Waller’s Invincibella ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Two of Sydney’s most popular mares from the Ron Quinton stable Dixie Blossoms ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds) and Daysee Doom ($7 TAB Fixed Odds) are amongst other runners in a crack field.

Chris Waller’s boom four-year old Youngstar ($3.30 TAB Fixed Odds) is favourite for the Group 2 $200,000 Schweppes Shannon Stakes ahead of stablemate Noire ($4 TAB Fixed Odds).

The Group 3 $200,000 360DMG Gloaming Stakes and Group 3 $160,000 JRA Trophy bring further blacktype to Saturday’s meeting.

The Rosehill Gardens track was rated a Good 4 on Thursday morning, with a track report and weather forecast update available with Rosehill Gardens Track Manager Shaun Patterson.

Amongst the attractions off the track for Saturday will be The Deck by De Bortoli Wines adjacent to the Main Stage Bar on the tiered lawn trackside, including DJ sets from Helena Ellis.

A variety of themed food outlets at Eats at the Gardens undercover at the rear of the main grandstand are on offer this Saturday.

Tickets for all Everest Carnival racedays are available at the TheRaces.com.au with discounts for early bookings and further discounts for bookings of 10 tickets or more.
